It covers the ESG landscape and materiality for the sector, social risk and human rights due diligence, stakeholder engagement and grievance management, social investment and local content, and finally metrics, reporting and governance.

Built on recognised practice. The programme references the GRI 11 Oil and Gas Sector Standard, the Ipieca, API and IOGP sustainability reporting guidance, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights, the IFC Performance Standards, the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Meaningful Stakeholder Engagement in the Extractive Sector, and IFRS S1 and S2 for investor-focused disclosure. Participants learn how to use them to guide management choices.

Which social and ESG issues are material for an asset or company; where human rights due diligence should focus; how to structure stakeholder engagement and grievance mechanisms; how to target social investment and local content spending for lasting value; which metrics to report and how to evidence them; and how to govern social performance at executive level.

How it is delivered. Twenty hours across five sessions, built around one running case: a new upstream development near established communities, with a partner seeking project finance and preparing its first sector-aligned sustainability report. Participants carry out a materiality assessment, map social risks, design a grievance mechanism, review a social investment portfolio and draft key ESG disclosures.
