How to Communicate with Diplomacy, Tact and Credibility
Tactless messages damage relationships, stall decisions and weaken the credibility of capable professionals, especially when the topic is sensitive or the audience is senior. This programme gives professionals practical techniques to say difficult things clearly and respectfully, handle disagreement calmly, and build the trust that makes people listen and act.
Many capable professionals lose influence not because their ideas are weak but because of how they deliver them. Some are so direct that colleagues become defensive. Others are so careful that the message is lost. Under pressure, people react instead of respond, send emails they regret, or avoid the conversation altogether. Working across cultures, hierarchies and languages makes these risks greater, and credibility once lost takes a long time to recover.
This programme builds communication skills in a practical sequence. It moves through five stages: understanding credibility and how others perceive us, listening and questioning to understand, delivering difficult messages with tact, handling emotion and disagreement, and applying these skills with senior stakeholders, clients and across cultures, in person and in writing.
Built on recognised practice. The programme draws on established communication and behavioural models, including the classical elements of persuasion (credibility, logic and emotion), the trust equation, active listening techniques, assertive communication, the Thomas-Kilmann conflict modes, interest-based negotiation principles and research on cultural differences in communication styles.
What this changes in practice. Participants make better choices about when to be direct and when to be diplomatic, how to disagree with a manager without damaging the relationship, how to say no while keeping cooperation, how to give critical feedback that is accepted, and how to write messages that are clear, polite and hard to misread.
How it is delivered. Twenty hours across five sessions, built around realistic workplace scenarios drawn from participants' own experience. Each session includes short input, practice in pairs and small groups, role plays with structured feedback, and rewriting of real emails and messages.
In-house option. For organisations, the programme can be tailored to your own situations, such as client service, internal advisory roles or dealing with senior officials, and delivered for teams that need to communicate consistently with the same stakeholders.

Committees and meetings consume senior time, yet many end without clear decisions, owners or records that would stand up to review. Unclear emails, meetings that end without decisions and conversations that damage working relationships cost organisations time and trust every day. Data, reports and presentations often fail to persuade because they give information without meaning. Audiences forget slides but remember stories. This programme gives professionals and managers a practical method to find, structure and tell business stories that explain complex ideas, win support for proposals and engage teams, clients and stakeholders.
